Stubble burning invites penalty in Haryana's Palwal district

The district administration has started imposing fines on offenders for violating the norms of stubble burning in the district. With as many as eight incidents reported in the past about a week, five of the violators have been fined. Meanwhile, three incidents were found to be false.

As the incidence of stubble burning has increased in view of the harvesting season of the paddy crop , sources in the local administration claimed that action against the violation had also been taken as per the norms of the government to curb the menace.

As many as five farmers of the district have been penalised for burning stubble since October 2, this year, said an official of the Agriculture Department. Challans amounting to Rs 2,500 per acre of land were imposed on the violators. The challans are being imposed on the basis of the reports submitted by satellite images captured by the Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC) of the Agriculture Department.

Two incidents were reported from Kondal village on October 2, where stubble was being burnt on three acres of land. The other three incidents were reported in Likhi, Fartashkunagar and Farizabad Misa villages on October 6, 7 and 8 , respectively.
