The Indian Army said on Sunday it thwarted an attempted infiltration at the Line of Control in Poonch’s Krishna Ghati Sector two days ago.

A Jammu-based defence spokesperson said  a group of militants were tryig to cross the LoC into Indian territory on August 7. A militant was killed and two were seriously wounded in the shootout that followed on Friday, the spokesperson said.

“The alert Army troops detected the terrorists close to LoC and immediately engaged them resulting in on the spot killing of one terrorist and seroius injuries to other two,” the spokesperson said.

The army said that they couldn’t find the militant’s body in search operations conducted later, and claimed that the body had been “dragged away”.

“However, one AK 47 Rifle, two AK 47 Magazines and some eatables were recovered from the incident site,” the press statement said, adding that the eatables and some other items that were found bore “Pakistan markings”, indicating the “complicity of Pakistan in sponsoring terror activities in J&K”.

“Security forces are maintaining a robust Counter Infiltration grid along the Line of Control to foil any nefarious designs by Pakistan,” the statement said.
