The much-awaited project of indoor stadium on the Panipat-Sanoli road on Sunday got wings after MLA Pramod Vij laid its foundation stone after the ‘Bhoomi Poojan’. The indoor stadium would be constructed in 6,900 sq m land at a cost of Rs 44.5 crore.

Panipat City MLA Pramod Vij took up the project of the indoor stadium with the government at the state level and after receiving approval, the MC had prepared its detailed project report (DPR).

The multi-storey indoor stadium on the Panipat-Sanoli road is being constructed in place of an old vegetable market, which was shifted to new place near the grain market. It has got approved and a tender has been opened for it.

MLA Vij participated in the programme as the chief guest while Archana Gupta, state general secretary, presided over the programme. Former mayor Avneet Kaur, BJP district president Dushyant Bhatt, former councillor Ravinder Bhatia, Lokesh Nangroo and others performed ‘Bhoomi Poojan’.

Vij said a three-storey building would be constructed and facilities for sports, including a badminton court, table-tennis court, boxing ring and healthcare centre, would be made available.

Sitting arrangements for people, first-aid room, showers, restrooms, cool down areas and even specific training area and other facilities would be developed in the indoor stadium, the MLA added.

Along with the stairs, lifts, two-wheeler- and four-wheeler parking, canteen and special lights facilities would be provided in the stadium, Vij said.
