State to get Rs 4,000 cr from Centre for rural roads: Vikramaditya
Urban Development and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said that the state government would soon receive Rs 4,000 crore under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-4) and the amount would be spent on providing better road connectivity to the residents of 800 villages in the state. He inspected various ongoing development works in the Chintpurni Assembly segment. Chintpurni MLA Sudarshan Babloo accompanied him.
Vikramaditya said that the state government had apprised the Union Government of the needs and priorities of the people of the state. He added that the state Public Works Department had recently received Rs 350 crore from the Union Government and the state government would make efforts to get more money.
He said that in the past one year, the state government had received Rs 3,000 crore from the Centre and as a result development works were progressing at full pace. He added that negligence or corruption in the Public Works Department and the Urban Development Department would not be tolerated. He directed officers concerned to ensure that the works under execution were of good quality and were completed within the stipulated time so that people could get their benefit at the earliest.
Vikramaditya said that the Chintpurni segment would witness some major development projects soon. He inspected the ongoing works, including a government degree college building at Chowki Maniar being constructed at a cost of Rs 13.3 crore, and a 500-metre bridge over the Swan river on the Gagret-Loharli-Chururu road to be constructed at a cost of Rs 42.82 crore.
The minister also inspected the work to strengthen the Chururu-Dhussara stretch of the highway. He watched the Himachal Pradesh University Inter-college Taekwondo Tournament at Degree College, Amb.
