The star-studded wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant saw who’s who from across the globe. What shone the brightest, besides the national and international luminaries, was the spectacular jewellery worn by the Ambani ladies and the celebrity guests in attendance. And well, some of the finest and unique pieces seen at the wedding were by our very own Chandigarh-based Jagdish Jewellers.
Actress Janhvi Kapoor, for instance, captivated everyone at the mehendi ceremony in a majestic “jadau” necklace by Jagdish Jewellers. This regal necklace, encrusted with firoza stones, rubies, sapphires and exquisite polki detailing, was a magnificent blend of traditional and modern hues. Pataudi heiress Sara Ali Khan also radiated pure elegance at the wedding festivities in exquisite sparkly “jadau” earrings and a blingy polki neckpiece by the city jeweller.
Then there was Genelia Deshmukh, looking absolutely stunning in custom rose-cut polki “maang-teeka” and earrings, studded with exquisite Basra pearls, emeralds and rubies. “Our jewellery added that perfect touch of elegance and glow to Genelia’s vibrant personality, making her shine even brighter,” smiles Sagar Singla, the owner at Jagdish Jewellers, Chandigarh. The ever-elegant Madhuri Dixit exuded grace in a sophisticated diamond set, studded with tourmalines and emeralds; Bhavana Pandey looked resplendent in a diamond set studded with Russian Emeralds, exquisitely crafted by Jagdish Jewellers. Celebrities like Alaviaa Jaaferi also flaunted precious baubles by the city jeweller at this opulent wedding. Alaviaa’s lemon ethnic ensemble was accentuated by a regal polka neckpiece with pearls, Tanzanite stones, yellow Burmese sapphires and green beryls.
Recently, Jagdish Jewellers collaborated with Madhuri Dixit for the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha Ceremony. Their awe-inspiring custom sets and rare pieces have been adorned by hit Netflix Series Heeramandi ladies, besides celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Hina Khan, Rakulpreet, Shanaya Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari and Urvashi Rautela.
Jagdish Jewellers was established when its founder Chaudhary Ramji Das migrated in 1847 from a town named Budlada to Patiala and opened a small workshop in 1850 to cater to the jewellery demands of the royal families of the princely states of Punjab. And by 1866, they had their first boutique store in Patiala.
They started their Chandigarh chapter in 2011, when Sagar and Akash Singla — 9th generation entrepreneurs — joined business. Jagdish Jewellers has been providing extravagant jewellery to the elite of Punjab ever since. “We preserve the designs and detailing of traditional heirloom ornaments, which were handcrafted intricately by master craftsmen,” reveals Susham Singla, the owner at Jagdish Jewellers.
