Stand firmly with BJP: Rao Inderjit Singh rubbishes rumours of rebellion
The Ahirwal region and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh are in the spotlight ever since the BJP almost made a clean sweep by winning 10 out of 11 seats comprising Rewari, Mahendragarh and Gurugram districts in the Assembly elections.
The stunning performance of the BJP in the region has not only given credence to the Ahirwal’s claim for getting key posts for its MLAs in the state cabinet, but also led to speculation in a section of media about the next move of Ahir stalwart Rao Inderjit who yet again proved his supremacy in the region in the Assembly poll.
Rao Inderjit clarified that some media channels are running baseless news in which he was being shown as a rebel along with nine other MLAs.
“All this is baseless and unfounded news. I and all my fellow MLAs stand firmly with the BJP,” Rao posted on his social media handles on Sunday.
This time, the saffron party gave a freehand to Rao Inderjit to not only pick candidates for all three districts of Ahirwal, but also carry out their election campaign. His daughter Arti Singh Rao emerged victorious from Ateli in a close contest, while Rao’s other supporters too managed to win the elections in all seats of Rewari, Gurugram and three out of four in Mahendargarh district.
In Mahendragarh, only former Irrigation Minister and two-time MLA Dr Abhe Singh Yadav belonging to anti-Rao camp faced the defeat to Congress candidate Manju Choudhary from the Nangal Choudhary constituency. Besides, the BJP won all three other seats from the district. Senior Congress leaders - Rao Dan Singh (Mahendragarh) and Rao Narendra Singh (Narnaul) - too lost the elections.
The tremendous performance of the BJP in Ahirwal has raised the hopes of locals about getting coveted posts for their MLAs in the state government. They want a post of deputy chief minister and two ministers for the development of Ahirwal.
