The Mohali Administration revoked the licence of a stamp vendor at the local tehsil complex, using the powers vested under Rule 31 of Punjab Stamp Act Rules 1934, today. Officials said a complaint was received on September 5 regarding vendor Balwinder Singh overcharging for issuing stamp paper. To check the veracity of the complaint, a client was sent to the vendor on September 11 and Balwinder asked for Rs 80 against the value of a Rs 50 stamp paper.

“Stern action has been taken against the vendor, which is a clear indication to others also,” said DC Aashika Jain.
