Chandigarh, July 25

The Transport Department of the Haryana Government, along with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), hosted an electric vehicle (EV) stakeholder conference on ‘Accelerating Haryana’s EV Adoption’ with senior leaders from the state and city, industry representatives and civil society organisations here today.

“The conference opens the doors for conversation between the government and private sector and shows the path forward for better policy adoption, which will enhance Haryana’s electrification journey,” said Panchkula ADC Sachin Gupta.

Amit Bhatt, India Managing Director, ICCT, said, “Haryana’s EV policy was the first to include tractors for demand of incentives and given the strategic presence of the state it will play a critical role in adoption of electric vehicles. ”

“The Haryana EV policy has promoted widespread charging infrastructure for faster EV penetration. We are looking forward to making bigger strides with the government’s support,” said Palak Thakur, India Senior Researcher, ICCT.

The conference was informed that Haryana was the only state offering incentives for non-road EVs like hybrid and electric tractors The state has also set a target for cent per cent electrification of public transport vehicles in Gurugram and Faridabad cities by 2029.
