St Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore

The school hosted its ‘Unnayanum’ Sports Day 2024-25. Padma Shri Krishna Poonia, Arjuna Awardee was the chief guest. She is a gold medallist in Commonwealth Games and has represented India thrice in Olympic Games. The guest of honour was Col AS Dhillon, GM, Panchkula Golf Club. Col NR Baberwal, Dr Puneet Bedi (SMC members), and Amit Bhatia, a celebrity from Himachal Pradesh, were welcomed by the school council and band accompanied by bagpipers. The programme commenced with a rousing welcome after the formal arrival of the chief guest, flag hoisting, and a cultural presentation by children. March past, torch race, oath-taking ceremony, and athletic competitions were organised. The little ones displayed their abilities in various races (balloon race, hula hoop race, scoop race, ball-basket race) and Ubuntu activities with the spirit of ‘We All Are Winners’. Students were honoured with ‘Khel Prakharta Samman’ for their best performances in sports at the national level. Students from 25 schools were also invited and felicitated by the chief guest. She also awarded Diet scholarships worth Rs 12,000 each to Sameeksha and Harnoor for fencing, Aditya Goyal, Sambhav Pawar, and Bhoomi Lakra for taekwondo, Sachin for wrestling and Mehak Mehra for shooting for bringing laurels to the school. In the under-14 category, Harnoor and Sunit Kumar Jha, and in the U-19 category, Daman Rana and Divisha were declared as the best athletes.
