In view of the panchayat elections, the district police has begun taking steps to strengthen the law and order situation. Senior Superintendent of Police Varinder Singh Brar presided over a meeting at Fazilka with all subdivision-level officials and heads of police stations.

The SSP issued guidelines to maintain law and order in the district during the panchayat elections. He said stringent action should be taken against the anti-social elements and drug traffickers to prevent any disruption in the fair election process.

He emphasised the need to ensure a fair and transparent police system so that there was no malpractice during the elections and residents maintained confidence in the law enforcement.
