SSOC gets five-day remand of second suspect in Chandigarh blast case
Vishal Masih, the second suspect in the Chandigarh blast case, was produced before a duty magistrate in the local court here today.
The court has sent him to police custody till September 20.
He was arrested by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police along with the central agencies from Delhi, the DGP informed on X.
According to SSOC officials Vishal was arrested in connection with the cross-border weapon smuggling case registered on September 8. This was the fourth arrest in the case. Earlier, the police had arrested Rohan Masih of Pashia border village in Ramdass area of Amritsar on Friday.
"Within 72 hours of the blast, the police in coordination with central agencies have arrested the second perpetrator of the blast. On September 11, two suspects had carried out grenade blast at Sector 10 in Chandigarh. Acting swiftly, the police had nabbed one of the accused Rohan Masih on September 13," DGP Gaurav Yadav posted on X today.
He said following the leads generated through various sources, Vishal, resident of Raimal village near Dhyanpur, Batala, has been arrested from Delhi.
Further investigations are being conducted to uncover the entire conspiracy he said.
