Spread awareness about govt schemes: Dharmani

The Animal Husbandry Department needs to work for economic growth of farmers, said Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Saturday. Addressing a review meeting of the department at Gumarwin in Bilaspur, Dharmani said the department should make farmers aware of various schemes that government had started for them.

Emphasising that the department needs to make more efforts to strengthen the economy of the farmers, he said new procedures and corrective measures should be adopted so that the livestock rearers could benefit from modern technology.

He advised officials to communicate with farmers regularly and understand their problems so that they could make best use of beneficial techniques.

The minister said the department should involve the livestock keepers in new training programmes, which would impart modern veterinary and nutritional information. He added that this would help farmers to keep their livestock healthy and increase productivity. Dharmani asked officials and employees to implement the plans with sincerity. Dharmani interacted with veterinary officers and pharmacists working in six veterinary hospitals and 34 animal dispensaries operating in the Ghumarvin subdivision.

Earlier, Dr Vinod Kumar Kundi, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, at Bilaspur presented a report of the department to the minister. He informed him about the programmes being run by the department.

Assistant Director Dr KL Sharma gave details of the schemes run by the central and state governments like Animal Insurance Scheme, Artificial Insemination Programme, Animal Health Camps and Milk Production Promotion Schemes that aim to promote animal husbandry sector in the area.
