India’s Aakash Bhardwaj clinched the silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event as the hosts bagged three medals on the opening day of the World University Shooting Championship. Palak and Arshdeep Kaur won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
Aakash shot 579 in the qualification round to be placed second. Czech Republic’s Pavel Schejbal topped the qualification with a superb 586. In the final, Pavel shot 239.8, while Aakash tallied 238.8. Filip Wagner won the bronze medal.
In women’s event, Sainyam (576), Arshdeep (574) and Palak (573) made it to the final. Chinese Taipei’s Liu Heng-Yiu scored 578. Liu clinched gold with 239.4, while Palak tallied 239.1. Arshdeep scored 219.
