Three from Haryana, two from Chandigarh in U-19 India team
Chandigarh, December 19
Two cricketers from Chandigarh and three from Haryana were today selected in the Indian squad for the Under-19 World Cup.
Chandigarh’s Harnoor Singh and Raj Angad Bawa, and Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu, Garv Sangwan and Dinesh Bana have been named in the 17-member squad. Punjab’s Uday Saharan was named among the five standby players.
Delhi batter Yash Dhull will lead India at the event, which is scheduled to be held in the West Indies from January 14 to February 5. Dhull was also named captain for the upcoming Asia Cup, to be held in the UAE from December 23.
Four-time winners India are clubbed with South Africa, Ireland and Uganda in Group B. India will begin their campaign against South Africa on January 15. The 14th edition of the tournament will see 16 teams competing for the trophy across 48 matches. India are the most successful side, having won the title in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018.
