Suthra appointed as FIVB communications commission member
The international volleyball federation (FIVB) has appointed Dr Varun Suthra as a member of its communications commission. This appointment was approved by the FIVB Board during its first meeting for the 2024-2028 Olympics cycle, following the 39th FIVB World Congress. The FIVB commissions provide guidance in critical areas such as coaching, legal frameworks, medical science and communication strategies.
Responding to his appointment, Suthra said, “It is an honour to serve on the FIVB communications commission. Volleyball is not just a sport, it is a global movement that connects people. Contributing to the growth of this movement is a matter of pride for me. This is not just a personal achievement but a moment of pride for India as we make significant strides on the global stage.”
Suthra, who is the Director of International Relations at Bhubaneswar’s KIIT University, acknowledged the guidance of Achyuta Samanta, the former president of the Volleyball Federation of India. “This achievement would not have been possible without the inspiration and encouragement of Dr Achyuta Samanta. His vision and unwavering support have shaped my journey and enabled me to contribute meaningfully to the global volleyball movement. I am deeply grateful for his trust and mentorship.”
