Shooters win two bronze in junior Worlds to stay on top
New Delhi: Indian shooters won two bronze medals in the 10m mixed team events at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. The bronze medals took India’s count to five medals. Gautami Bhanot and Ajay Malik shot a combined score of 628.9 to finish third in the rifle event. In the pistol event, Lakshita and Parmod finished third, pipping compatriots Kanishka Dagar and Mukesh Nelavali to bronze.

Animesh wins 200m for his 2nd gold in U23 Indian Open
Odisha sprinter Animesh Kujur won the 200m final in a meet record time to add to his 100m gold as he was named the best male athlete of the U23 Indian Open. Kujur clocked 20.65 seconds, bettering his own meet record of 20.87 seconds. Gujarat’s Devyaniba Zala, who had won the 400m gold in 53.53s, was adjudged the best female athlete.

Sharma finishes T-57 as Hidalgo triumphs over Rahm
Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma shot a 1-over 72 to finish tied-57th at the Open de Espana. Sharma, who held the spotlight with three eagles, also dropped three double bogeys during the four rounds. Spaniard Angel Hidalgo secured his maiden DP World Tour title by defeating three-time champion Jon Rahm in a playoff.
