Streaming platform Netflix experienced an outage affecting thousands of users in the United States late on Friday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. The disruption came just as viewers were tuning in to watch the highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

By 10:35 p.m. ET (0335 GMT Saturday), Downdetector reported that 85,021 users had indicated issues with the service. The website tracks outages by aggregating status reports from multiple sources.

The outage primarily affected users in major metropolitan areas such as New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles, with scattered reports of disruptions from other regions.

Netflix did not provide an immediate comment in response to a request from Reuters.

The streaming platform has faced similar issues during live or highly anticipated events in the past, with spikes in user traffic often contributing to the disruptions.
