India suffered defeats to UAE and England in the Hong Kong Sixes. Having lost to Pakistan in their opener, India needed a win against UAE to move to the quarterfinals but fell short by a run. Chasing 131, India required 32 in the final over and all-rounder Stuart Binny (44 off 11 balls) tried his best but failed. Against England, India could only manage 105/3 in response to their rival’s 120/1.

Malvika enters women’s singles final of Hylo Open

Rising Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod entered the final of the women’s singles event at the Hylo Open Super 300 tournament after beating eighth seed Julie Dawall Jakobsen of Denmark. Malvika, seeded sixth, defeated Jakobsen 23-21 21-18. She will play Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt, seeded seventh, in the title clash. Unseeded Ayush Shetty crashed out in the men’s singles semifinals after losing to fourth seed Christo Popov of France. Shetty, ranked 51st, started off well but lost the steam as the match progressed to lose 17-21 13-21 to his world No. 28 rival.

Pranavi cards 3-under, climbs to tied-18th

Indian golfer Pranavi Urs carded a solid 3-under 69 in the second round, moving into the top-20 of the Aramco Team Series. She is now tied for the 18th place with one round remaining. Pranavi, playing in her rookie season on the Ladies European Tour, had five birdies against two bogeys. Diksha Dagar shot a 1-under 71 to be tied-58th. She had three birdies against two bogeys.

Striker Harry Kane scored twice as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich eased past visitors Union Berlin 3-0 to provisionally open up a three-point gap at the top. Kane, who also scored a hat-trick against VfB Stuttgart two weeks ago in the Bundesliga, now has 11 league goals this season to top the scorers’ list.

Norris wins sprint to cut Verstappen’s F1 lead

Lando Norris won the Sao Paulo sprint race in a McLaren one-two to cut Max Verstappen’s Formula One lead to 45 points. Australian Oscar Piastri, who started on pole position, finished second after letting Norris through two laps from the end and just before a virtual safety car period. Red Bull’s Verstappen completed the top three, the first time this season that the triple world champion has been beaten in a sprint.

Aryna Sabalenka began her quest to secure the year-end No. 1 ranking with a thumping 6-3 6-4 victory over China’s Zheng Qinwen in her opening round robin match at the WTA Finals. The Australian and US Open champion packed far too much power for Zheng.
