Annual sports meet at Government College in Takipur provided an opportunity to budding youth to hone their skills. The two-day annual sports competition organised on December 4 and 5 showcased talent of students while providing a boost to sports culture at the college.

Best athlete Piyusha in the women’s category and Sahil in the men’s category were honoured for their excellent performance during the meet. On the occasion, Prof Bhagwan Das presided over the event as chief guest while Dr Ashwani Sharma was present as a special guest. Prof Bhagwan Das, while highlighting the importance of sports, said, “Sports are a symbol of brotherhood and human love.”

In various competitions organised during the meet, Sujal stood first in 100-metre men’s race, Sahil second and Prince third. In the 100-metre women’s race, Sonakshi stood first, Piyusha Thakur second and Komal third. In 200-metre men’s race, Sahil stood first, Sujal second and Ashish third. In 200-metre women’s category, Kashish stood first, Avishakha Tanisha second and Piyusha was placed third.

In the 400-metre in men’s race, Saurabh came first, Sahil second and Sujal third. In the 400-metre women’s category, Kashish bagged first spot, Sonakshi second and Nadni third. In the 800-metre men’s category, Avinash came first, Sujal second and Saurabh third.

In shot put men’s competition Robin secured first position while in women’s category Piyusha Thakur bagged the first spot.

In the javelin throw competition, Sahil secured first position in men’s category while in women’s category Piyusha bagged the first spot. In discus throw, Ashish secured first position in men’s category and in women’s category Piyusha got the top spot.

On the occasion, college Principal Ravinder Singh Gill blessed students and congratulated them for completing in games with true sports spirit.
