Spiti Marathon to be held on September 28 & 29
The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Tem Snow Marathon, is gearing up to host the inaugural Spiti Marathon on September 28 and 29 in Lahaul and Spiti district. The event aims to promote fitness and adventure while showcasing the breath-taking landscapes of the Spiti valley. The entry to the marathon is free and around 1,000 athletes from across the country are expected to take part in it.
Organiser Gaurav Schimer today said the highlight of the event would be the Spiti Avengers Challenge, a gruelling 77-km race set to take place along the scenic route from Kaza to Sumdo.
For those looking for a more traditional experience, a 42-km full marathon would be held from Sumdo to Hurling and back. Besides, a 21-km half marathon would be organised from Sumdo to Gue and back, providing a more accessible option for many participants.
The event would also feature a 10-km fun run designed for families and casual runners, who want to be part of the excitement without intense competition.
