AGI Global School marked the ongoing Navratri celebrations with a lively dandiya event last night. The event was dedicated to celebrating the strength and spirit of women. The festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil, honouring Goddess Durga’s victory over demon Mahishasura. The colorful dandiya sticks represent the goddess’s sword in her battle against darkness.

School director Harleen Mohanty emphasised the importance of such cultural celebrations, stating they brought together different segments of society and fostered unity. “These events not only enrich the students’ understanding of diverse cultures but also strengthen community bonds,” she said.

AGI Infra Ltd managing director Sukhdev Singh highlighted the significance of hosting such events in schools. He noted that these gatherings promoted cultural awareness among students and provided a platform for the community to come together.

Women docs celebrate Navratri with dandiya

The women doctor’s wing of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jalandhar, under the leadership of chairperson Dr Deepali Luthra and secretary Dr Arpana Chodha, organised a dandiya event to celebrate Navratri.

They prayed for the navratris to bring out divinity in each human being. Nearly 150 women doctors of Jalandhar participated in the event enthusiastically and performed dandiya during the function.

Dr Sushma Chawla, Dr Kamal Gupta, Dr Seema Beri, Dr Shalini, Dr Meenakshi Anand, Dr Shikha Chawla, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Dr Dimple Sharma, Dr Sanjeev Lochan, Dr Nidhi Garg, Dr Geetika, among others participated in the celebrations.

IMA, Jalandhar, president Dr Deepak Chawla and secretary Dr Archana Dutta were also present on the occasion and took part in the celebrations. Dr Chawla addressed the gathering and said women were at the forefront in every field in the age and they must be provided with a safe atmosphere to spread their wings and fly.
