Shimla, August 4
A Jeevandhara-Shravan vehicle was flagged off by Health and Family Welfare Minister Rajiv Saizal from the Secretariat today. The vehicle will ensure early detection and screening of hearing problems of people across the state.
The Health Minister said the vehicle had been fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and two technicians and a data entry operator had also been made available in it.
He said the vehicle would be sent to various health blocks and hospitals where patients suffering from hearing problems would be examined and referred to suitable institutions for hearing aid operation and treatment.
He said hi-tech equipment set up in this vehicle would also help in implantation of hearing machines in the elderly and installation of cochlear implants in children.
The minister said under the Mukhya Mantri Nirog Yojana, there was a provision for annual examination of ears of those above 18 years of age.
