Superintendent of Police Lokender Singh on Friday ordered a detailed inquiry into the road accident that occurred on the elevated highway in the city on Thursday in which five persons were killed.

SP Lokender Singh handed over the inquiry to DSP, Traffic, Suresh Kumar Saini and sought a detailed report of the incident within 10 days.

Notably, five persons were crushed to death after a truck coming from the wrong side on the elevated highway hit vehicles at four spots. Truck driver, Sahir, of Ferozpur Jhirka in Mewat was arrested.

The police have registered three cases against him – two cases in the Sector 29 industrial area police station and one case in the Chandnibagh police station.

The accused truck driver was produced in a court which court sent him to judicial custody today.

Sub Inspector Sandeep Kumar, SHO, Sector 29 police station, said, "The driver is not in the condition to say anything about the accident or which type of drugs or liquor he had consumed. His blood samples have been sent for laboratory analysis," he said.

He has been sent to judicial custody in one case and for interrogating him to get the details about the accidents, we would take him to police custody in another case, the SHO maintained.
