The decision was taken at a meeting of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha at the Mini-Secretariat in Jagadhri.

Officers and members of the Animal Husbandry Department, Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), Haryana Police, Gaushala Committees and Gau Raksha Dal also participated in the meeting.

Besides the safety and treatment of sick and injured animals, issues pertaining to arrangements for a place to keep such animals, fodder and disposal of dead animals were also discussed at the meeting.

“Sometimes, stray cattle fall very sick or get injured during an accident. They need urgent medical help in such cases,” said Sinha.

To purchase an ambulance, the fund will be provided by the Animal Welfare Board of India to the society through the Animal Husbandry Department.

Sinha said that the incinerator installed near the solid waste management plant at Kail village in Yamunanagar, too, would be made functional soon for the disposal of dead animals. He directed MCYJ officials to provide basic facilities in all four dairy complexes of the district. He directed officials of the Animal Husbandry Department to organise awareness programmes to provide timely treatment to sick animals.
