New Delhi, June 17

Congress president Sonia Gandhi continues to be under observation and treatment at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, the Congress said on Friday, six days ahead of the June 23 ED summons date.

In a statement, AICC general secretary, communication, Jairam Ramesh, said, “Congress President was admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital on the afternoon of June 12 when she developed profuse bleeding from the nose following a recent Covid infection. She was immediately put under treatment and underwent a related follow up procedure yesterday morning. A fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract was also detected upon admission. She is currently being treated for it apart from other post Covid complications. She continues to be under close observation and treatment,” Ramesh said.

The ED had previously summoned Sonia Gandhi on June 8 for questioning in the money laundering allegations over the National Herald matter.

The agency had, however, sent fresh summons for June 23 after Sonia caught Covid and sought more time.

Rahul Gandhi has already been questioned for three days by the ED in the same case and has again been summoned on Monday.
