Solan cop suspended for demanding liquor in uniform

Solan SP Gaurav Singh today suspended a Sub-Inspector, who was looking after traffic management, for demanding liquor outside a closed vend while wearing uniform.

The SP said that the said police official had been suspended and departmental action initiated against him after a video of the incident went viral. The incident took place after duty hours but he was suspended as he was in uniform at that time.

The video of the incident had gone viral on social media platforms on Sunday, prompting the police to initiate action against the erring official. The incident brought disrepute to the district police.

Various clips of about a minute show the policeman asking for bottles of liquor outside while the salesman is seen telling him to pay money for the same. The cop instead tells his name and pleads for beer bottles while trying to open the downed shutter, while his associate is heard using an abusive language. In another clip, the Sub-Inspector is seen holding a liquor bottle and sitting on a bench outside the liquor vend.
