The crime wing of the Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of mobile snatchers and arrested three of its members. The police also recovered 21 mobile phones and one motorcycle from them. The mobiles were snatched by the gang members from city areas in the recent past.

They have been identified as Harmanjot Singh of Adarsh Nagar, Bholu of the old Civil Hospital road and Prince Kumar of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar.

Crime wing inspector Rajesh Kumar in a statement issued stated that the police had received a tip-off that the suspects were running a gang of snatchers and they had committed several snatchings in the industrial hub in the recent past. After getting information, a naka was laid on the old Civil Hospital road where the bike-borne miscreants were arrested. During checking, 21 mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

During their preliminary questioning, the suspects confessed that they had committed over 12 snatchings in the recent past. Some of the snatched mobiles were also sold by them, Kumar said, adding that now, the police remand of the suspects would be sought.

Ladhowal police nab two

Meanwhile, the Ladhowal police claimed to have nabbed two snatchers and recovered four mobile phones from their possession. They also recovered a sharp weapon and a motorcycle.

The suspects were identified as Karanvir Singh, alias Billa, a resident of Jagatpura, Phillaur, and Hitesh, alias Prince, a resident of Atwal Police Colony, Phillaur.

ACP, West, Gurdev Singh, and SHO, Ladhowal police station, Inspector Harpreet Singh Dehal, issued a joint statement in this regard.

Police officials said the suspects had been committing mobile snatchings in the Ladhowal area and had committed several such incidents in the past. On November 16, after getting a tip-off about the whereabouts of the suspects, a police team conducted a raid and nabbed the miscreants.
