Six Indians lured into illegal jobs in Myanmar rescued
Six Indian nationals who were trapped in a job scam in Myanmar have been released and taken to a local police station for repatriation to India.
As many as 101 Indians have been repatriated from Myanmar since July this year.
The Indian Embassy at Myanmar on Saturday reiterated its advice asking job seekers to consult the missions before taking up any jobs.
As per sources, the release and repatriation of Indian nationals stuck in fake job rackets and scams is a complex task. These Indians were struck in Myawaddy area in Myanmar that is totally inaccessible, including for Myanmar security forces. The area is controlled by opposition forces. The Government of Myanmar tries to help, but its reach is limited.
The Indian Mission needs to approach non-government stakeholders without jeopardising relations with the Government of Myanmar.
