Situation calm at Khanauri morcha
Condemning the action of the Haryana Police on a small group of 101 farmers at Shambhu border today, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-political) convener Jagjit Singh Dallewal has given a call to all countrymen to consider the ‘kisan andolan’ as their own to stop suicides by farmers and for the future of their children. Dallewal’s indefinite fast at the Khanauri border today entered Day 11. He said that this fight could not be abandoned midway at any cost.
The situation today remained peaceful at Khanauri morcha as no untoward activity occurred there. Dallewal also mentioned about the peaceful fast by him at Khanauri, saying that when there was no programme of going to Delhi from Khanauri border, why had the Haryana Government done barricading at three places on Haryana side. He said that the Supreme Court should take notice of this act of the Haryana Government.
Dallewal said that the action by the Haryana Government against a small group of 101 farmers, who were going to Delhi on foot, had exposed the intention of the Haryana Government as well as of the Centre.
He said a couple of days ago, farmer leaders had gone to the Supreme Court’s committee where Haryana’s Home Secretary and Haryana’s DGP were present. Both officers had told them that farmers could go to Delhi on foot, but they had today backtracked from it.
Dallewal also said that the Centre had some problem with the farming profession and wanted to hand over the agriculture sector to corporate houses. Due to this, neither had the Centre been holding talks with the farmers nor allowing them to go to Delhi even on foot. It showed that the Centre did not want to talk to farmers, he added.
Regarding the situation after the action by the Haryana Police, Dallewal said both the morchas -– SKM (Non-political) and KMM -– would hold discussions and after that, a decision would be taken for further action.
Farm leader Sukhjit Singh Hardo Jhande, who had observed fast from November 26 to 30 at Khanauri border, said it had become clear today that there was a lot of difference in the words and actions of the Haryana Government as it had stopped farmers from going to Delhi.
