Hearing this, Setia went directly to the panchayat office and, during a Facebook live session, lodged a complaint with the Tehsildar (local revenue officer) against the patwari. He made it clear that such corrupt practices would no longer be tolerated.
Gokul Setia had lost the 2019 election to Gopal Kanda by just 602 votes. This time, however, he defeated Kanda by a margin of 7,234 votes. After his victory, Setia has been actively engaging with the public and addressing their problems. He has promised to focus on the city’s development and resolve long-standing issues.
Setia’s use of Facebook live to address local problems has been a key factor in his success. He has regularly raised issues affecting Sirsa residents on the platform, which helped him gain public support and win the election.
Meanwhile, Gopal Kanda, the former MLA, spoke to his supporters on Wednesday. Kanda predicted that the new MLA would face difficulties in office, hinting that Setia might soon be protesting outside government offices. He said Setia should not disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Sirsa, saying that government work would continue as usual.
