Nahan, March 2

A large number of villages in Ronhat sub-tehsil of Sirmaur district have been without power supply since Friday morning. Today, electricity supply was restored for a few hours but it snapped again. After a six-hour power cut in Haripurdhar, Nauhradhar and Gattadhar areas yesterday, electricity supply was restored around 7 pm but after 11 pm, it was again disrupted.

Power outages continued throughout the day in the area, posing a lot of problems for people, especially students. These days, the board examinations of Class X and XII are going on. Due to power failure, children faced problems in taking examinations in extreme cold. The functioning of government offices, banks and Lok Mitra Kendras has been badly affected.

In the absence of power outage, the Haripurdhar market is facing a drinking water crisis for the past two weeks as the lift irrigation schemes are not working. Many people are fetching water from eight to 10 km in vehicles.
