Sippy Murder Case: Prosecution witness supports CBI theory

Jitender Singh, one of the important prosecution witnesses in the Sippy Sidhu murder case has supported the prosecution theory. The prosecution conducted the examination-in-chief of Jitender Singh as the trial in the 9-year-old case began today.

The prosecution claimed that Jitender was an eyewitness to the alleged scene of the crime. The CBI said he had led it to the spot and explained the sequence of events and identified the scene of crime. It has claimed in the chargesheet that the eyewitness had seen Kalyani Singh and Sippy Sidhu in the Sector 27 park on September 20, 2015, in the evening.

The CBI claimed that the eyewitness also saw an unknown person entering the park, who fired two gun shots at the deceased. Thereafter, he also saw accused Kalyani Singh firing two gun shots at the deceased. The CBI claimed that the eyewitness also saw the accused and the unknown person flee the scene in two different vehicles.

The court has already framed the charges against the accused for the offences punishable under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.

The CBI has claimed that Jitender was working as an AC mechanic in Sector 52, Chandigarh. He was in touch with the deceased from September 18, 2015, to September 20, 2015 in connection with the installation of CCTV cameras at his house in Mohali.

Dispose of case in six months: CBI court

The CBI court has ordered that the case shall be taken up on day-to-day hearing basis and shall be disposed of within six months. The court has directed the prosecution to conclude its evidence by October.

The accused has been directed to conclude her defence by second week of December. As per the case management hearing, the schedule for the final arguments shall be advanced in this case to third week of December and judgment shall be pronounced thereafter.
