Sikh body chief Dhami faces backlash over abusive remarks
SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami finds himself embroiled in controversy after his derogatory remarks against Former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur went viral in a telephonic conversation. A group of women, including SGPC members Bibi Kiranjot Kaur and Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran, today filed a complaint at the Akal Takht, demanding strict action and his removal from the post.
However, Dhami also received support from SAD (Delhi unit) president Paramjit Singh Sarna, and SGPC members Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhagwant Singh Sialka and Surjit Singh Bhittewad, who defended him, claiming the matter was being politicised. They emphasised that Dhami had promptly realised his mistake and had issued public apologies to Akal Takht, Punjab State Women Commission, and Bibi Jagir Kaur.
