Ludhiana: Siblings aged 7, 10 get feel of DC’s chair
Ludhiana, July 6
The district administration yesterday launched the “I-ASPIRE”, a leadership initiative, aimed at motivating and inspiring schoolchildren to pursue their dreams in the district.
Under this novel programme, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney hosted siblings, aged 7 and 10, at her office by offering them her chair.
Gurleen Kaur (10) and Komaldeep Kaur (7) from Dhulewal village of the Macchiwara area were brought from their home in an official vehicle to the DC’s office.
Both sisters had met the DC a few days ago and had shared their dreams, following which she had decided to motivate, guide and give wings to the minor girls in achieving their dreams.
Gurleen, a Class V student, wants to become an IAS officer and Komaldeep, a Class III student, dreams about serving the nation by becoming a teacher.
Both sisters held discussions with the DC about her daily routine and work. Gurleen shared with the official her dream of becoming an IAS officer.
The DC assured fulsome support to both of them as well as their families in pursuing their dreams.
Sawhney even offered her chair to both girls, who sat on it and later, the former also gave them appreciation certificates and good wishes for their future.
She said the initiative aims to bridge the gap between aspirations and reality by providing students with first-hand exposure to their desired career paths.
She mentioned that under the initiative, students would be asked about their career ambitions and based on their choice, they would be grouped for visits to relevant government offices, including IAS, IPS, PCS, PPS and others.
She said the students would have the opportunity to interact with and learn from professionals they dream of emulating by spending a day with them. The DC shared that the interested children could reach out by sending an email at dbeeludhiana@gmail.com or by calling at 7740001682 between 9 am to 5 pm on any working day.
