Panic gripped city's Gujral Nagar area late last night after some miscreants fired shots at the residence of Advocate Gurmohan Singh.

The attackers fled the scene after firing two rounds at the house's main gate. Police from Division Number-4 have launched an investigation into the case and recorded Advocate Gurmohan’s statement.
A CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being reviewed to identify the shooters. Two bullet shells were recovered from the scene, and a call data from the vicinity is being analysed to track down the assailants, said police officials.
Advocate Gurmohan disclosed that the attack is linked to an NRI case he is representing. He said he had received death threats a month ago, warning him to drop the case. Following the shooting, the attackers had also sent a video to him, showing them firing at his house's main gate and threatening more severe consequences if he continues with the case.
Former MLA Rajindra Beri, who reached the scene, expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in the city. He emphasised that the threats are to pressure the lawyer into abandoning the NRI case. Beri condemned the incident, and demanded arrest of the accused.
Sub-inspector Surjit Singh from Division Number-4, said that an FIR will be lodged based on the statements of the victim and efforts to arrest the perpetrators are underway.
