Shortage of power meters for industrial units in Punjab
Muktsar, June 14
The PSPCL is reportedly facing a shortage of electricity meters for industrial units, which is delaying the setting up of some projects.
Alankrita Sahai, Miss India Earth-2014, recently highlighted it by tweeting to the CM, Power Minister and the PSPCL. “We have been applying for an electricity connection in Sri Muktsar Sahib for our project. Somehow, it has been delayed for two months because there are no MS meters available with the PSPCL. Doing business is so difficult and basic needs are not met with ease,” she tweeted.
Another meter applicant said, “We invested Rs 50 lakh for setting up our project and paid Rs 1.3 lakh about two months ago for the power line and meter to be issued to us. However, it is still awaited.”
Surjit Singh, SE, PSPCL, Muktsar, said, “There is a shortage of electricity meters for industrial units. I am sure the orders are placed and there is delay in the delivery. However, these meters are purchased by the head office in Patiala.”
