New Delhi, June 20

In a major development in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell claims to have arrested three persons, including main shooter Priyavrat, alias Fauji, from a village near Mundra Port in Gujarat on June 19.

Nabbed from Gujarat

  • Two belonged to Sonepat & Jhajjar, one to Bathinda
  • Conducted recce eight to nine times before murder
  • Changed five locations, kept grenades as a backup plan
  • Escaped to Kutch in a truck after killing Moosewala

Hailing from Sonepat, Fauji (26) was the executioner of the murder and had led the attack, the police said. He could purportedly be seen in CCTV footage at a petrol pump in Fatehgarh Sahib prior to the incident, they said.

The police claimed that at the time of the shootout, Fauji was in touch with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who had owned responsibility for the killing. He was arrested in a 2015 murder case in Sonipat and was wanted in another 2021 murder case in the same city. The other arrested accused are Kashish (24), alias Kuldeep, from Jhajjar and Keshav Kumar (29) of Awa Basti in Bathinda. Kashish is also purportedly seen in the same CCTV footage. He was wanted in a 2021 murder case in Jhajjar.

Keshav allegedly facilitated the escape of the main shooters in an Alto car after the murder. He allegedly accompanied the shooters till Mansa and was also present during reconnaissance and previous attempts. He was arrested in a 2020 murder case in Bathinda and is suspected to be involved in other cases of extortion in Punjab.

Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said eight grenades, nine detonators, three pistols and an assault rifle were recovered from the accused. They had grenades as a backup in case the weapons did not work, but these were not used.

Recoveries: 8 grenades, one grenade launcher, 9 electric detonators, 1 assault rifle with 20 rounds, 3 pistols, 36 rounds & part of AK series assault rifle
