Shiv Sena to contest poll
Jammu, August 22
The Shiv Sena (UBT) will contest the upcoming Assembly elections on some seats after receiving a green signal from the party high command. This was stated by J&K unit chief Manish Sahni.
In a statement, Sahni said, “The J&K unit of the Shiv Sena (UBT) has got the green signal from the party high command to participate in the Assembly poll.”
He said party MP Anil Desai had released the party manifesto after a thorough discussion in a meeting held with the high command and J&K unit at Mumbai.
Sahni said, “The party chief, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, was very worried about the breach of promise with the people of J&K, violation of the rights of the locals and the inability to ensure the safe return of the Kashmiri Pandits to the valley. The party state unit was instructed to gear up to participate in the Assembly elections with the resolve to restore the rights of the sons of the soil.”
He said as soon as the dates of the elections were announced, the state core committee presented the list of state-level candidates and manifesto based on the aspirations of the people before the high command. He said the names of the party candidates would be announced in Jammu on August 23.
