Two girls of Shingariwala village have shone in national and international sport meets. While Simran Kaur has won one silver and two bronze medals in the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship held in Durban, South Africa, recently, Mehakpreet has won a gold in the national archery meet..

Simran, daughter of Rajinder Kaur and Gurwinder Singh, is a student of MA Sociology at the MCM DAV College, Chandigarh.

Mehakpreet, daughter of Sukhwinder Kaur and Gian Singh, and a Class 8 student at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, has won a gold medal in the 68th National School Games Archery Championship held at Nadiad in Gujarat.

Shingariwala gram panchayat has hailed the achievement of its daughters and honoured them. At the function, the girls, along with their mothers, were honoured by sarpanch Amit Mehta and others.
