Shimla law university 1st in state to launch digital marksheet system
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first university in the state to fully digitise its marksheets. The marksheets are now accessible through the National Academic Depository (NAD) on the DigiLocker platform, ensuring seamless access and secure validation of academic records for over 2,000 students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Priti Saxena highlighted that this achievement aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, underscoring HPNLU’s commitment to academic excellence, transparency and technological advancement. “The university has successfully complied with the University Grants Commission (UGC) mandate by integrating student progress into the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), facilitating greater mobility and flexibility for students to pursue education across higher education institutions in India,” she said.
She emphasised that the digitisation aligns with NEP 2020’s vision of a flexible, student-centric educational system. The ABC system allows students to securely transfer and store credits earned across institutions, promoting academic mobility and adaptability.
“With the implementation of NAD and DigiLocker, HPNLU students can now download their marksheets and academic certificates anytime, anywhere, using the DigiLocker app. The NAD system ensures the authenticity of these records and safeguards against fraudulent practices,” Prof Saxena added.
Describing the move as a step toward modernising education in Himachal Pradesh, she said, “HPNLU sets an exemplary standard for other institutions by combining education and technological innovation. This initiative represents a proud moment for HPNLU and reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, transparent and high-quality education.”
The Vice-Chancellor further stated that this achievement empowers students with tools to thrive in an evolving academic landscape while embracing the digital future.
