Amritsar: To commemorate the Fourth Anniversary of NEP-2020 (Shiksha Saptah) was organised from July 23 to 28 at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School, Chabal. Under the programme, poster-making, slogan-writing and thumb-painting activities were conducted. FLN (Day 2) highlighted the importance of literacy and Numeracy. Day 3 was dedicated to the sports activities that involved an array of indigenous games. Students were actively participated in those games. Day 4 involved cultural activities like folk songs, dances amp; skit to promote and celebrate India’s Cultural diversity. On Say 5, (Skilling Day) First-Aid workshop was held to enable students learn essential first Aid skills from trained professionals. On Day 6, students and their mothers participated in plantation drive under # Plant 4 Mother # ‘EK Ped Maa Ke Naam’. Students of Class X Muskandeep Kaur and Armandeep Kaur, Ashpreet Kaur Class XI participated in poster making competition in Majha Public School Tarn Taran. Armandeep Kaur got ‘Award of Excellence’. Students also attended Social Emotional Well being seminar.

GNDU 11th in university Rankings

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has achieved an overall 11th rank among the top government universities in India in MDRA Best Universities Survey 2024. The rankings by a leading media house evaluates institutions on criteria including academic reputation, infrastructure, faculty quality, research output, and perception. The university’s faculty has significantly contributed to advancements in science, technology, and social sciences, as evidenced by GNDU’s current h-index of 150. Notably, GNDU is actively contributing to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strong focus on good health and well-being in its research. Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu appreciated the efforts of the faculty, students, and administrative departments. He emphasised that this ranking is a testament to GNDU’s unwavering dedication to providing quality education and fostering an environment of innovation and growth.

Karate Competition held

Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, hosted 68th District Zonal School Games 2024-25 Karate Competition (Boys and Girls) on July 26-27. The event was inaugurated by Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, Principal, Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar. The winners included: (U-14 girls) Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar stood 1st; Bhavans SL Public School, stood 2nd and Government High School, Sharifpura, Amritsar, stood 3rd. In U-17, Bhavans SL Public School, stood 1st; Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar stood 2nd and Police DAV Public School, stood 3rd. In U-19, Shri Ram Ashram Public School, stood 1st; Govt. Girls Sen Sec. School, Kot Karam Singh, stood 2nd and Bhavan’s SL Public School stood 3rd in boys categories, (U-14), Shri Ram Ashram Public School stood 1st, Bhavan’s SL Public School stood 2nd and Ajit Vidyalaya stood 3rd. in U-17, Shri Ram Ashram Public School stood 1st, Ajit Vidyalaya, stood 2nd and Police DAV Public School stood 3rd in Under-19, Shri Ram Ashram Public School tood 1st; Bhavans SL Public School, stood 2nd and DAV Senior Secondary School, Hathi Gate, stood 3rd.

Students bag jobs

Students of BBK DAV College for Women, brought laurels to the college by securing placements in SAMCO (Stock Market Advisory Service). In a campus placement drive, eight students (four from BCA, three from B.Com and one from BBA) were selected by the recruitment panel for the role of Business Development Executive. The selection procedure included technical tests followed by an HR interview.

DC visits computer training centre

Deputy Commissioner Ghansham Thori on Tuesday reviewed the various activities going on at District Red Cross and also visited the computer training centre at Tehsilpura. The DC who is also the president of the Red Cross Society also visited the common kitchen of Red Cross and Working Women Hostel. The DC also gave 15 computers to the Tehsilpura centre of Red Cross.
