Sharmila Tagore, Delhi civic body join hands to keep animals hydrated
New Delhi, July 6
Sharmila Tagore, renowned actress and animal welfare advocate, has joined hands with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for ‘Free Water Bowls for Animals’ initiative. Sharmila and NDMC Vice-Chairman Satish Upadhyay spoke about the initiative during a public event in the Capital on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Upadhyay spoke about the importance of providing water to stray animals in the summer. “Providing water to animals ensures their well-being and survival,” he said, stressing the role of community participation in this effort.
Tagore, who attended the programme as the chief guest, expressed her commitment to animal rights and their welfare. “I am delighted to support this noble initiative that advocates the welfare of our furry friends,” she said.
The participants received free water bowls for keeping these in their neighbourhoods. They also got guidance on proper installation and maintenance of these bowls. “The objective of distributing water bowls is to encourage proactive community efforts in ensuring animal hydration,” Upadhyay added.
“We were honoured to have Sharmila Tagore to grace the occasion. Her presence has undoubtedly encouraged many to contribute to the well-being of animals,” Upadhyay said.
Stressing community involvement, Upadhyay urged residents to participate in similar initiatives that support animal welfare.
