Sexual harassment allegations against Haryana IPS officer; admin of social media page booked

The Jind police have booked the admin of a social media channel in connection with spreading a complaint containing allegations of sexual harassment against an IPS officer.

Jind women police station SHO Mukesh Rani lodged a complaint that the admin of a social media channel ‘Jind Breaking News’ uploaded a post containing allegations against the police officers.

The SHO alleged that it was aimed at extortion and to defame the officers. A case under Sections 308 (6), 356 (2), 61 and 79 of the BNS was registered against the admin of the page.

Notably, the police have also initiated investigation into the allegations contained in the four-page complaint which went viral on social media. The State Commission for Women had also summoned the Fatehabad SP, who was asked to probe the allegations. It has also recommended transferring Jind SP to the state headquarters until the ongoing inquiry against him is completed.
