Seven shooters of Lawrence Bishnoi gang land in police net
The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested seven shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and foiled a shootout attempt, officials said on Friday.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kumar Kushwaha said: “The first arrest took place in Delhi on October 23, with subsequent apprehensions in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.”
The gang was targeting Sunil Pehelwan, son of ex-MLA of Rajasthan. They had carried out a recce of Pehelwan twice and even installed a GPS tracking device in his vehicle, which was retrieved, Kushwaha said.
The authorities are also probing the gang’s potential involvement in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique.
The arrested shooters were reportedly taking instructions from Arzoo Bishnoi, who, though not a formal member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, collaborates with them on certain assignments. The police recovered six semi-automatic pistols and 30 bullets from them.
