Thanks to the part HGVC played in government-backed initiatives like HGV bootcamp  program, they’ve been empowering people to begin a rewarding career while providing the UK’s haulage industry with a supply of new drivers.

Working as part of the Driver Academy Group alongside Logistics UK and Manpower, the HGVC team has also been helping logistics and delivery companies circumvent the chronic driver shortage by upskilling their current employees. Furthermore, we’re happy to say that we’re now assisting seven new UK SME firms in training new drivers.

Employers Need Only Pay 10% of the Cost

HGVC were first introduced in December 2021 and were only supposed to run for a year. However, due to their success and the ongoing demand for new drivers, the DfE chose to extend the HGV bootcamp  program that’s still available today. As part of the scheme, companies that employ fewer than 250 people need only pay 10% of the training cost.
