Fatehgarh Sahib, October 1

Senior citizens are an asset for society. The progress of a nation is not just decided by the GDP and per capita income, but by how senior citizens are treated.

The government has framed a policy for the welfare of the elderly people and the measures have been taken to strictly implement it to ensure the safety and security of the elderly, said Dr Sanjeev Kumar, SDM, while addressing a function organised by the Rotary Club, Sirhind, in collaboration with the Senior Citizen’s Welfare Association to commemorate the ‘International Day for Elderly’. He called upon the youths to respect and obey their parents and elders as they have vast knowledge. — OC
