Senior boxing championship begins in Hamirpur

The 53rd state-level senior boxing championship began at Gandhi Chowk here yesterday.

State Boxing Federation president Arun Thakur said 85 boxers from across the state were participating in the event. This was the first time that the state-level boxing championship was being organised here, he added.

He said the event would attract more people towards boxing, and would help in promoting boxing in the district. He added that the event would conclude on November 10.

Thakur said CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had been called for the prize distribution event.

He said the CM had conveyed his best wishes to the players, and assured of every help to be provided to the players. He said the CM had increased the prize money to be awarded to the winners.
