The Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde today nominated Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora against ex-CM Uddhav Thackeray’s son and Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Aaditya Thackeray from Mumbai’s Worli in the Assembly poll.

Congress names 14 more candidates

  • The Congress on Sunday issued a list of 14 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
  • Lalu H Shewale has replaced Madhukar Krishnarao Deshmukh from Aurangabad East, while Adhok Jadhav has replaced Sachin Sawant in the Andheri West segment.

Deora, a former Congress leader, joined the Sena before the Lok Sabha elections and was subsequently elected to the Rajya Sabha. Shinde’s decision to pit Deora against incumbent MLA Aaditya will make Worli a high-voltage contest. The Shiv Sena today announced 20 candidates.

It also fielded BJP MP Narayan Rane’s son Nilesh Rane from Kudal. His younger brother Nitesh Rane has been renominated by the BJP from Kankavali.

Former Lok Sabha member Sanjay Nirupam will contest from the Dindoshi seat in Mumbai. The Sena has also nominated former BJP leader Murji Patel for the Andheri East seat in the state capital.
