Seminar on Ambedkar’s role, influence held at Kurukshetra University
Dr BR Ambedkar Study Centre, Kurukshetra University, on Thursday organised a one-day national seminar on “Dr BR Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly: His role and his influence”.
During the inaugural session of the seminar, Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said, “Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar continues to inspire generations. Besides being the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr Ambedkar was also an immortal champion of social harmony.”
Social thinker Mukul Kanitkar presided over as the chief guest of the seminar. Kanitkar said that to understand the greatness and contribution of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, it was necessary to read his original letters. The book written on Ambedkar's life by Dhananjay Keer is based on his original letters, speeches and authentic sources. Dr Ambedkar did remarkable work of bringing freedom, equality, dignity, fraternity and social harmony through the Constitution, he added.
Prof Sanjay Sindhu, Faculty of Law, HP University, Shimla, Prof Shakti Singh, president, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and seminar coordinator and Director of Dr Ambedkar Study Centre Dr Pritam Singh also addressed the gathering.
