Chandigarh, July 11

The National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA) today submitted a 20-point demand letter to CM Nayab Singh Saini.

Kulbhushan Sharma, national president of NISA, said the letter highlighted that the government was yet to pay dues amounting to billions of rupees to the private schools for imparting education to the children belonging to the poor sections of society under Rule 134A.

Sharma also highlighted other demands, which include reviewing the procedure for the recognition of the schools functioning for over 10 years, waiving passenger tax of Rs 20 per seat for school buses and permanently recognising the temporarily recognised schools and playways. He said if the government failed to fulfill their demands within 30 days, the private schools would organise a ‘maha panchayat’ in Ambala on August 11 to chalk out the future course of action.
